Great day today at the 2026 IHSAA Student Leadership Conference held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The IHSAA partnered with Rule the Road Indiana to put on the 21st annual event. Select Peru High School student athletes, nominated by the school and IHSAA, heard from several guest speakers including Omari Pearson who is a leader in the field of education-driven life skills. Omari strives to empower the next generation towards achieving their life goals through education and mentoring. The students also had the opportunity to listen to former Division 1 Football Coach, Steve Roberts with his keynote on Making Expectations Become Reality and how our attitudes can shape results. Students also heard from guest speaker and Paralympic athlete, Steve Ent. Ent spoke on overcoming life’s challenges and the importance of making good decisions to achieve your dreams. Throughout the day, students also had the opportunity to take a bus tour of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and participated in interactive games to promote safe driving. It was a great day and the Peru Athletic Department is grateful for the IHSAA and Rule the Road Indiana for putting this on! Go Tigers!
